Subtle & matte, just the way I like it!

Heyhey :) This is a scheduled post, because while you're reading this I'm busy playing Mists of Pandaria! When I picked the polishes for this mani I knew straight away I'd end up mattifying it. I'm just not too crazy of shimmer on shimmer, and adding a matte top coat can make a big difference. And it really did for this mani as well!

OPI Gouda Gouda Two Shoes with Essence Love Potion!, Bundle Monster plate 319 and Essence Matt top coat.

And here's how it was after I applied the regular top coat first. Not liking it so much shiny, but I sure do like it matte!

Thanks for stopping by :)

Depend Holographic part II

I swatched the remaining 4 of my Depend holos today, you can see the first bunch here. Update, and you can find the last 4 here. These 4 were also swatched with Make Up Store Aqua Fix as base, the 2 lighter colors (Sand Grey and Steel Blue) took 3 coats, the others both needed 2 coats.

Oh my, look at this being all gorgeous! Blue with a hint of teal, yum!

I think the name Sand would've been better, I don't see any grey here, but it's a pretty nevertheless! Not the most suiting color for my skintone, but it's a holo, I easily forget about such things then :)

Purple with a hint of pink. They're all stunning and this one's no exception!

When I think of steel blue I don't think of this color, it's more of a greyish blue with a hint of green. But who cares about the name, I mean, look at it!

So in short... I ♥ every single one of them! I wouldn't be able to pick a favorite, that depends on my mood as well, but do you have a favorite of these?

Thanks for looking and enjoy your weekend :)

First Fall mani of the year

Yep, it's that time again, I'm wearing a sweater, enjoy comforting homemade soup and my nails and cuticles are getting a bit annoying (cuticle oils and nail hardeners here I come!). And I'm getting excited about using all these stunning Fall colors in my stash that have been sitting around for a while now, so today I did my first mani to go with the season :) And how about you, are you getting in the mood for the coming seasons' colors on your nails as well?

China Glaze Below Deck with China Glaze Joy and BM plate 312.

And what's also great with the colder weather... lapcats! Yep, very convenient Sue, lying on top of my arm and wrist making it impossible to capture my nails, lol.

My arm is below her here as well, silly cat ♥

A England Gothic Beauties - Review

Heyhey :) When I got back from my trip the new Gothic Beauties collection from A England was waiting for me, and today I have the review of them. To be honest though, I've dreaded this review because I just couldn't capture these polishes well and I'm not happy with how my swatches turned out. They deserve a lot better, but I tried it several times now, maybe I'll be able to capture them in a while. And the harder I tried to capture the shimmer now, the more pale my skin looked on the photos. But let's just say that adds to the gothic feeling, lol!
Anyway, most of the polishes in this collection are near blacks, in some light they do look pretty much completely black as well. But when the light hits them... these shimmers are absolutely gorgeous!

I've used 2 coats of each with top coat for my swatches.

Jane Eyre
Jane Eyre
Jane Eyre
Jane Eyre is one of the polishes that almost looks black, this one has a purple/copper shimmer in it. This was the thinnest of the bunch and really needed the 2 coats.

Lady Of Shalott

This Lady is almost black as well, but with a finer blue/purple shimmer.

Ophelia

Ophelia
Ophelia looks like the purple version of Jane Eyre, but as you can see, it's not just a purple shimmer but there are several other colors as well.

Tess D'Urbervilles
Tess D'Urbervilles
Tess D'Urbervilles
Tess is less black than the 3 above, this one's dark green in all light. Even though it's pretty dark, it actually felt a bit Christmassy!

Dorian Gray
Dorian Gray
Dorian Gray
Dorian Gray is the one that's a bit different, the shimmer is a lot finer than that of the other polishes, making it look more like a gunmetal grey with silver shimmer. This one was a 1-coater.

These polishes all have the quality I'm used to of A England, they apply easy and smooth and are well-pigmented. They made my stamping-heart jump! :) I already tried stamping with Jane Eyre, which was the most sheer of the bunch, and that one worked ok-ish. It'll probably work better on darker colors, but I think that the others will all work nicely!
Personally I'm not too crazy about black polish, so I do wish the shimmer was more visible at all times like it is in the bottles. But like this they already make it near impossible to not stare at your nails when the light hits them, and if black polish is your thing, these must be pure win in a bottle for you! So yep, I think Adina from A England did it again, she created some gorgeous polishes to go with the theme ♥

These Gothic Beauties aren't on the A England website yet, but you can order them via email for the time being. The polishes are £9 for 11ml.

Depend Holographic part I

Before I went to Sweden I already knew one of the things I wanted to bring home were the Depend Holographic polishes. I found 8 of the 12, unfortunately the others were already sold out everywhere, but hey, 8 is still a nice amount I'd say! Today I swatched the first half of them, and I think they look even more holo on my nails than on my pics, awesome!
I also bought Make Up Store Aqua Fix (which smells unusual for a polish and strangely nice, might I add) so all swatches are with Aqua Fix as base coat. I used 2 coats of each except the silver, that one took 3 coats, but I think more would take 3 coats without that base. The bottles only have a number, but according to the Depend site these do have names, so I added both the name and the number. Now, enough blabbering! Here they are :)

Depend 2032 Denim Blue

Hello there, gorgeous! This one combines the bright holo with a muted blue. It reminded me a little bit of Catrice Dirty Berry, but then on steroids!

Depend 2025 Silver
Depend 2025 Silver
Depend 2025 Silver
This one's pretty but I'm loving colored holos, silver isn't my color as much. But next time I'd layer this on something, because it was more sheer I'm hoping it might make a good holo top coat. I don't have one of those, so that would be cool as well :)

This one leans a bit red in some light as well, love it. Reminded me I still want to get a red holo someday as well!

I expected this one to be a bit darker on my nails, but it's such a nice and soft color. A sweet holo ♥

I'm very happy that these pretties are a part of my stash now and I can't wait to try out the other 4 as well! The only downside so far about these? 5ml bottles, ugh! Either way, give more drugstore brands with holographic polishes! ^^

Update, you can find the second part of these polishes here and the last bunch here. I've tried the silver as holo top coat, but it covered a bit too well still. Might have to add some clear polish at some point, if I dare risking ruining it, lol.

Sunny flakies

My head is a bit cluttered with stuff at the moment, so I wanted to go for something simple today. I still have quite a few polishes to swatch, including a bunch of holos, but of course there's barely any sun when I want to do so! So with this mani I went for some sun on my nails instead =)

Bundle Monster 2012 plate set *pic heavy* - Review

Hi all! Bundle Monster kindly send me their latest stamping plates set for review, so here they are!

The plates arrived in a small plastic box with a few example nails at the front. Each plate has a blue film on the front and I had no problem removing it. There's a protective cover on the back as well, and the sides of the plates aren't sharp at all, goody! I made photos of all the plates, you can see them all after the jump.

I think Bundle Monster did a great job on this set. They added some images that I felt were lacking on the plates that I have (like the puzzle pieces image and Easter images), they skipped animal prints (besides the giraffe kinda print) which I think most people already have a bunch anyway, and they added images for popular nail art (I see images that look a lot like watermarble, Saran wrap, gradient, tribal and newspaper). Awesome! And what I really love? Look at the amount of full nail images! =D

The full nail images are a tiny bit bigger than the ones on their previous set, of course I added them to the image below as well:

Please note: the up-to-date comparison can always be found at my Stamping Plate Sizes page.

I did a quick mani with these plates, and picked a fine lined image for testing. The quality of the plates and images is what I'm used to of Bundle Monster, they're great! But I tried out a new polish for stamping, which didn't work as great, that's why the lines aren't so smooth everywhere :)

Essence Iced Latte with A England Jane Eyre and BM plate 310.

I got plenty ideas for manis from these and I'm very happy they're now part of my stash :) Do you have these plates? And what do you think of them?

You can buy these plates on the Bundle Monster website, this set of 25 plates costs $21,99. You can also check out Bundle Monster on social media like Facebook and Twitter.
