Heya! =) After moving, getting sick and formatting my pc, I'm fi-na-lly back! I'd like to say thanks to my older followers for sticking with me, and welcome to my new followers :) During my absence I did receive some products for review, they've been standing around for a while now but yesterday I started swatching them, and today I have the first bunch to show you. I haven't polished in weeks (wall paint on my nails doesn't count, right?) and my nails are slanted nubbins at the moment, but they're starting to look more like my nails again now and it was nice to polish them again!
OPI recently came out with their Mariah Carey collection, which is most known for the Liquid Sand polishes. I wasn't sure how I felt about those, I love matte polish at times, but these are textured mattes and I thought they would be like sandpaper on your nails! Well, I can tell you straight away that that's not the case :) They obviously feel a bit rough and gritty, but they're a lot softer than I'd expect, and I didn't mind the feeling of it on my nails. I also wasn't sure if I'd like the look based on swatches, but on my nails I do! The polishes that OPI send me of this collection are Sprung, Stay The Night and Get Your Number, and here they are:
Get Your Number |
According to the label on the cap, you should apply 2 coats of the Liquid Sand polishes, and I indeed had enough coverage with 2 coats. Both Liquid Sands that I tried dry up lighter than the bottle color.
Get Your Number covered very well and applied easy, the drying time was fine too. The first coat dried pretty fast, the second a bit slower but not too slow, and you can easily see if it's dry or not.
This one's packed with holographic glitters! The image below was taken under a lamp and shows it a bit better, but you can see the holo glitters a lot better irl.
Get Your Number |
Of course I had to try these with top coat as well, which makes Get Your Number a bit darker and more like the polish you see in the bottle. And all the glitter goes insane with top coat! But as expected, these are true top coat eaters! I used 1 coat for the photo below, but I made pictures straight after and it didn't take long before it could use another coat.
Get Your Number |
I do think it looks great with top coat, but I don't like thick layers of polish on my nails, so I prefer it the way this polish is ment to be. The texture combined with the glitters looks original and fun!

Sprung |
Sprung is one of the normal polishes from this collection, and I have to be honest, in the bottle I thought it looked a bit meh, just a copper shimmer. But boy was I wrong, look at all those colors! At times it looks light like on the image above, with gold and rose colored shimmer, but more often it looked a bit darker.

And here's how it looks under a lamp, darker, more copper and brown, but you can still see the gold and rose as well. I think it looks pretty classy but with a little something extra!
Sprung covered in 2 coats, I used 3 for my photos and no top coat. The drying time was fine.

Stay The Night |
Last but not least, Stay The Night. The black base turns to a very dark grey when it's dry, and it's packed with bright pink glitter. I used 2 coats of this as well, but the first one applied a bit tricky (you know, when you apply glitter the first coat seems to glide off your nails straight away?). After that first coat dried I had no problems, although next time I'd go for 3 thin coats instead of 1 thicker 2nd coat.
Stay The Night |
And here's how it looks with top coat, which I thought I'd maybe prefer when I first saw swatches of this polish. I think it's ok like this, but again, it eats top coat and I don't like thick layers. And the textured version really worked for me!
Stay The Night |
It just looks so different and I'll probably wear this as my next mani. I prefer dark color on shorter nails, and I love how this looked :)
Stay The Night |
I'd love to hear what you think of these, and especially the Liquid Sand polishes, yay or nay? And would you wear them with or without top coat?
As you might have noticed, I changed my watermark to prevent people from removing it. I'm not sure about it yet, I want it to be obvious but not too obvious. But before I mess around with it more, I'd like to know if this mark in the middle bugs you as reader?
Thanks for looking ♥
