A Woman's Prague-ative

Hi guys! Today's polish is part of OPI's Euro Centrale collection from Spring 2013, but this polish works perfect for Fall if you ask me! And if you celebrate Thanksgiving and are looking for a nice polish to go with it, have a look at this one. We don't celebrate it here, but this polish makes me think of Thanksgiving nevertheless :) It's a burnt orange with golden shimmer that covered in 3 easy coats. It does need some basecoat I noticed, my nails have a slight red glow now, oops!

Posting a lot of pics, because I love how it looks in different light, from very bright and sparkly to more toned down and copper-y, while still having that warm golden glow that makes it look lit from within :)

Macroooo! I have to say, I'm not sure why this didn't come with a Fall collection, this doesn't make me think of Spring at all! But that collection had a few more colors that I'd easier wear in Fall or Winter. Next time I might go for some black animalprint over it and/or some matte top coat, I bet that'll look great :)

What do you think of this one? Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Cozy & holo

Good afternoon lovelies! When I received the DRK Themes-SF plate, there was 1 image that jumped out straight away, and as it turns out, I'm loving it even more on the nail than I thought I would! Because Fall is coming up, and I'm getting more and more in the mood for matching colors, I started with a smoky base and a darker stamping color - a holo one, to be precise :) Loooove the subtle sheen of color that it gives!

The holographic effect shows better here, and the smoky effect in the base shows a bit as well in the holes of the image. That wasn't as visible irl anymore, but the holo effect was, it gave a gorgeous glow of color to the mani! I'll definitely stamp with When Stars Collide more often ♥

Bundle Monster Sun Kissed plates

Howdy all! Bundle Monster recently released a plateset called Sun Kissed: 10 plates with a beach & ocean theme. It took a little bit longer than I hoped (me being a bit sick, Dewdew needing some trips to the vet, and if that wasn't enough, my indexfinger nail chipped badly), but finally, here's the review :) I went with a basic design to start with, and here's how that looks!

Essence Back To Paradise with Konad Green, BM-501 and BPS Super Matte

Adding a jump because this post is a bit pic-heavy:

Then the plates, blue foil at the front, protective cover at the back, and a theme that they completely nailed I think! This set makes me think of the ocean, Summer, happy days :) And ice cream, which I'm now in the mood for, lol! Please note, the plates look a bit damaged here and there, they weren't 100% shiny but it's not nearly as bad as these big photos show. It also doesn't affect the quality of the images at all - those are of the quality that we're used to from Bundle Monster.

This Sun Kissed set offers loads of images to create a themed mani in different styles, and it has a lot of unique images that I didn't have yet! But it also has some images that can be used in various ways, not just in this theme. I went with a seaweed image with green colors, but use a different colorcombo and I think it won't remind you that much of plants anymore! Absolutely loving some of the full nail images - you know I'm a full nail fan ^^ The images have a nice size as well, and of course I've added them to my size comparison too.

I like how they went with a smaller, themed collection, and I wonder if we'll see more of those in the future? If you could pick a theme for a plateset, what would it be? I wouldn't mind a nature/animals themed set! I have quite a few images like that but a lot of them are similar (like the tigerprints), I'd like some more leaf images, a catface that covers like half the nail, year rings of a tree, oh I have plenty ideas in that theme :) Curious to hear what kind of set you'd like to see!

DRK Themes-SF plate

Hi guys! I already showed you the awesome DRK XL Designer plate the other day, but I received another plate with one huge image on it, the Themes-SF plate. This plate was made to honor Saint Francis of Assisi, who is known as the patron saint of animals. Well, to be honest, I don't think I ever heard of him before, but you know I love animals too, haha! And I had no idea either that October 4 World Animal Day was his feast day! :) DRK Nails donates $2 of each sold Themes-SF plate to an animal organization (SUIPA), which unfortunately I can't tell you much about, since I don't speak Portugese (I'll spare you the Google Translate ^^). But I think it's absolutely wonderful that DRK Nails does this! You can find more information about this plate on their site. Anyway, let's look at my mani, shall we?

Catrice Steel My Heart with China Glaze Adore and DRK Nails Themes-SF.

Catrice Steel My Heart with China Glaze Adore and DRK Nails Themes-SF.

I went with a metal effect basecolor and didn't use top coat on it, and picked a finer lined image to see how it transfers. And yes, the quality of this plate is fantastic; crisp clean image, sturdy white back, loads of images or combinations to choose from! You can click the image below for an enlargement, and since it's about the patron saint of animals, I figured I could use this "failed" photo with Dewey, haha!

But since he can be a bit of a distraction from the plate, here's the bottompart again, now without Dewdew :)

When I first looked at the plate, I thought 'wow that's quite a few faces and entire people on it' and I wasn't fully sure about that to be honest. But once I had a closer look, I started seeing more and more options. Like the collarpart of the man's clothes, it's a stitched together image. Near his arms, thin stripes. Or go for the thicker stripes of his robe, ... The plate also contains some animals, I see a knight on his horse, and near Dewdew's face are dog heads, butterflies, birds and dragonflies.
And you can also use just a tiny part of big images like this one. I haven't tried it myself though, but I think that if you have cotton swabs with remover nearby to quickly take everything off your stamper that you don't want, it'll work. Or cut a piece of paper with just enough room for the image that you want and place that over it, before doing the usual scrape and stamping. Or tape off the plate, scrape, remove tape, then stamp... yeah, I'll have to mess with that sometime, see what works best :)

I'm impressed with these full image plates from DRK Nails, and I can't wait to see what else they'll come up with! You can find all their plates here. What do you think of this plate, and have you ever tried to grab just a tiny part of an image? If so, tips are welcome! :) Have a great weekend and thanks for looking ♥

Pointy tips with BPS tip guides

Morning all, just a short post today because I'm not feeling so well, here's a mani that I did the other day with BPS tip guides:

Catrice Be Natural with Catrice Steel My Heart and BPS tip guides.

Catrice Be Natural with Catrice Steel My Heart and BPS tip guides.

Catrice Be Natural with Catrice Steel My Heart and BPS tip guides.

The little bit of sun really brought out the hint of purple in the base! This was an easy mani, basecolor, top coat, tip guides, metal effect polish on top aaand done. The tip guides that I used are from BornPrettyStore and I absolutely love these, they're so versatile! They worked great as well and there's plenty on a sheet (36 and another 3 that are straight on 1 side). You do have to be a little bit careful when taking them off the sheet to prevent them from breaking in the middle, but you can use them like that as well to create even more options. They're $1.58 for a sheet and you can find them here (and as always, ABJ61 gives 10% off!).

Some more changes from Essence and Catrice! - Preview

Right, let's start with the bad news first. This preview is -as always from these brands- a Dutch preview, and goes for only a selection of the Kruidvat stores in Belgium and the Netherlands. I'm not sure what stores, nor do I know how it'll be in other countries (although I suspect it'll be the same there as well?).
The good news? Both Catrice and Essence will increase their standard assortment in the coming weeks! Catrice adds another 130 products, Essence will add a 3rd display! So here's another huge preview from these 2, and in case you missed the other changes for the coming seasons by these brands (which include other colors of some products as well), you can find the Fall/Winter preview from Essence here and the Fall/Winter preview from Catrice here. I don't know if the 3rd display will only come in stores that already have displays 1 and 2, or that the 3rd might be combined with just 1 as well, but my guess would be that it'll be added to stores that already have 2 displays.
I'm only adding the info on the polish, but of course, if you'd like to know more of any other product, please just ask! :) And as always, you can click the images for an enlargement.

Luxury Lacquers Liquid Metal €3,59.
Champaign Rain - Mrs Boombastic - My Satin Ballet Shoes - Pink Charming
I'm Legend Berry - Lilac Like - Be My Mermaid - Thunder From Down Under
4 of these are shiny, 4 are matte, but I'm not sure which is what!

Colour Brightening Base Coat €2,99.
Million Styles Effect Top Coat €2,99.
Godfather Of Pearl - Holo Que Tal? - Have An Ice Day - Return Of Space Cowboys
And yes, those names sound familiar! But based on the images, I'd say they ain't the same as the ones we've seen before.

Their usual line, no info on price.
Peaches Cream - Chilli Mahoney - Calling Mr Brown - CadiLILAC - Auber-Genious - Uptown Pearl

FuchsCIA - Khaki Perry's Firework - CU At Limessquare - Mrs Flashdance - Emerald Bay

Next up is Essence:

nail art thermo nail polish €1,99: the heat is on - it's hot stuff - play it cool! - warm my heart!
french manicure tip stickers €2,59.
colour & go (no info on pricing): carribean bean - wild white ways
effect nail polish (no info on pricing): live, laugh & party
shake me! i'm pretty top coat €1,99. Holographic glitters and texture in a top coat, curious what that'll be!

Woah! Well, there we have it. Time to get some breakfast and explain to my wallet that I neeeed a bunch of this! :P I hope you enjoyed this preview and that you'll have a lovely Sunday!

DRK XL Designer plate 1

Morning lovelies! DRK Nails recently changed their site, and they added some new plates as well. Those really sparked my interest, and I was so excited to find them in my mailbox! :) And yes, they totally lived up to my expectations, the plates have the quality that I'm used to from DRK, the size that will make people with longer nails happy as well, and oh how I love the images ♥
It was my first time using a plate that's pretty much 1 big image, and I enjoyed the amount of options it gives, and variation with 1 image as well, like today's mani. It's 1 slightly bigger part of the plate and I could stamp the same image different on each nail. And I just looove how this turned out! :)

And here's the plate that I used, it's so awesome! The options with this plate are endless, and the image that I used today is totally my kinda thing, so pretty ♥ But there's plenty more swirly, flowery images on this plate and I'm sure I'll enjoy using those too! I kept the image quite big so you can check out all the details if you want.

clickable for an enlargement

The older plates that I have from DRK also have a protective cover on the back, but these new plates come with the hard, rubbery back that you see more often on plates nowadays. I like that back, it feels more sturdy.

The size of the plates is the same as their old big plates (I reviewed a bunch of them before, which you can find here). But I also measured the platesize (the whole metal plate, not just the image) to give you a better idea, and it's around 16.5x21 cm / 6.5x8.26 inch. The plate can be found on the DRK Nails website and costs $22. They also carry platefolders for these big plates, and make sure to check out their polish as well!

Have you tried full plates like this one, and is it something you enjoy using? Thanks for stopping by and have a great day :)

Collage of the Month: August
