Herôme Prinsessen nagellak - Review

Hi all! The polishes that I'm showing you today are unique and unlike anything else in my stash. In fact, I don't even know another brand that has similar polish to the ones I'm talking about now! Here are 5 of the Herôme Prinsessen nagellak (princesses nail polish).

From thumb to pinkie: I am Naughty, I am Special, I am Smart, I am Hilarious, I am Brave.

Now what's so special about these you ask? It's just 3 cremes, a shimmer and a frosty, right? Right! But here's a hint:

That's indeed a bowl of colored water. Colored by this polish even! These polishes are for kids, they're waterbased and you can just wash them off!

The drying time was a bit slower on these, but I used 3 coats of each and I doubt a kid would use 3 as well. Cleanup was a bit funky with water (and as you can see on my pinkie on the first pic, it left a thin film of polish on my skin where I didn't clean enough), and they smell a bit funny too. The red one was almost a 1-coater, but the rest needed more to even out. They were all a bit streaky, the blue one was most streaky but it was also a bit watery (which I kinda expected them all to be!).
But my nails are a lot bigger of course, and I bet some kids would love their own polish that they can apply themselves! I doubt they would care much about a streak here and there on their tiny self-polished nails :) And I can imagine the parents would be happy as well, knowing it'll come right off and there's no strong chemicals going on their child's hands.

Here's the whole collection, as you can see they offer a wide range of colors:

As the bottles say, they're for external use only. That would make them suitable for kids that are young enough to be ok with polish for kids and old enough to not put their fingers in their mouth. Considering I accidentally ended up tasting this myself, I guess that could be a bit challenging, lol! Although I have to say, my 3 coats didn't come off straight away without me rubbing my nails a bit (I used cold water) so I think it wouldn't be too much of an issue, especially if the little princess is proud of her fancy nails.
What I wondered about though, are the English names. I think Dutch names (just as the name of the polish range itself) would've been better. And it might just be me, but when I think of a red polish that's called I am Naughty, I don't think of polish for children straight away :P
Having said that, I think it's a nice idea and I'm sure there will be kids and parents who will love these waterbased polishes :)

They're available now in stores and on the Herôme website for €3,95 each, a bottle contains 7ml. They also have sets that contain polish, handcreme, etc. You can find the sets here.

China Glaze Holiday Joy - Review

Shiny reds, sparkly golden goodness, rich green polish... Yes yes, it's that time of the year again, Christmas collections are available! And as always, China Glaze brings us a collection that has something for most of us. As you could see in the preview of Holiday Joy, this year the collection is packed with reds and glitters, and China Glaze kindly send me 6 of them for review. So let's have a look at them :)

Angel Wings

Golden holographic glitter. This was 3 thin coats with top coat and it applied easy. I'm not too crazy about gold or the combo of gold and holographic, but it's oh so sparkly which makes up for a lot! =)

These kind of glitters are something you should see in real life, it's near impossible to show how sparkly it is!

Merry Berry

As the name says, a deep berry shade, which is perfect for Fall as well! This was 2 smooth coats, no top coat.

Blue Bells Ring

This polish was a bit double for me, on one hand it applied really smooth and it covered in 1 coat (although I used 2 for my photos) which I always love because it means it'll probably work for stamping, yay! But on the other hand, it smelled really odd (like white spirit or some) and it stained. But now that I know that I'll make sure to use basecoat next time. And that smell I can handle as well, just not when I have a headache, lol. So the easy applying 1-coater side wins and I'm sure I'll enjoy stamping with it :)

Red Satin

Gorgeous, shiny red that applied in 2 easy coats. Nothing special, but if you're looking for a nice red, have a look at this! The visible nail lines aren't visible in real life.

Glitter All The Way

Glitter All The Way

Green, gold, red and purple glitter in a clear base. I'm wearing 3 coats with top coat here. I applied the first coat gently, after that I had a rough base on my nails and could easily apply the other coats, without glitters piling up on my tips.

I'm sorry for the blurred photo, but I think it shows the green and purple well here. Now this might look Christmassy for some of you, but for my WoW playing readers, when I saw this polish I instantly thought of DMF in a bottle! =D

Pure Joy

Pure Joy is different sizes gold and red glitter in a clear base. I used 4 coats here with top coat. As you can see, it just doesn't work so well on itself! It applied the same as Glitter All The Way, I didn't have any problems with it.

Not loving the bald spots, although it's so sparkly it's not so visible. But layered it looks a lot different, yummy Christmas nails!

And here you can see the whole collection again :)

For me personally, China Glaze had other collections that gave me more of a Christmas feeling, I would've loved a bit more green here. But all in all, there are some Christmas colors and some that'll be perfect for New year's Eve, and there are some original glitters as well. So I think it's another great China Glaze holiday collection! My favorite of the ones I showed here is the bottled Christmas-feeling, Pure Joy, layered on a red. What do you think of the collection, and are you getting any of these?

On a personal note, Fall kicked in for me with a nasty cold and feeling down. And my sweet little Bindi has a lump which the vet took a biopsy of, and I'll find out next week what it is, but the vet said it didn't feel good and I have a bad feeling about it as well. These things combined is why I haven't been so active on my blog lately. Maybe it's not the best place to mention it here, below a review, but I don't wanna make a whole post for it. To get back on topic, getting these pretties was a nice distraction, gotta love nailmail! :)

From the vault: Purple rainbow sprinkles

Today I have a quick post with a mani I did a while ago. When I posted Rainbow Sprinkles, I mentionned I'd have to try it on a different purple sometime as well, and so I did. Here's how that turned out!

I'm Not Lion

Hi everyone :) The polish that I'm showing you today is a glitter that I think looks great without top coat. Yeah, really! It's only slightly gritty then and I think I actually prefer it without top coat even! It's more of a beige/champagne kinda color in most light, but at times it looks more silver, and other times more golden. I thought in advance that it would maybe be too warm for my skintone, but it actually works surprisingly well most of the time and I really think it's a pretty! ^^

On the above photo you can see the holographic glitters well, and the photo below is with 1 layer of top coat. To get it really smooth it would need another, but it works either way :)

What do you think of this polish, do you prefer it with or without TC?

Poetic roses

A few posts ago I showed you My Very First Knockwurst, and in that post MVFK was topped with glitters in a slightly tinted base. This time the color isn't altered, and as I said then as well, I think it'll work great with several other colors :) I'm thinking pink, purple, silver and white, or as I did today, with a rose/copper kinda color. The stamped result just screamed for a matte top coat!

Have a lovely weekend and take care ♥

From the vault: Kings Of Mints stamped

Hey guys! Atm my head is filled with lots of stuff and it doesn't include polishing, I'm actually still wearing the mani that I showed previously. But I went through my old photo folders and found quite a few manis from last year that I didn't post yet. Not sure if I'll post the others sometime as well, some weren't posted for a reason, heh. But here's one from more than a year ago, as you can see on the shape of my nails (and cuticles, Fall kicked in now, bleh) as well! I prefer my straighter corners more now :)

Essence Kings Of Mints with China Glaze Adore and BM plate 205.

Thanks for looking :)

Same thing, different color

The last couple of days I've been wearing this mani, but with the grey weather I couldn't get the pics that I wanted. But I'll just have to get used to that again I guess, I'm sure there will be plenty more grey days to come! So I ended up making pics afterall, I used the same glitters as in my previous mani but with a different basecolor. For Audrey is pretty similar to some other colors that I have (loving these kinda colors!), but more washed out and the slightly tinted base of the glitters makes it even more grey. No matte top coat this time, I like it just the way it is!

Glittery Knockwurst

My Very First Knockwurst is one of those colors that isn't the most flattering for my skintone, but boy do I love it, I think it's one of those colors that can easily be combined with several other colors and I'm sure you'll see this polish on my blog again very soon. I wanted to stamp on it but couldn't pick a color, and then I spotted Essence College Hero in store, which looks like a silver version of Catrice Million Dollar Baby.
I'm not always into glitters, they're often very colorful with holo bits and different colored sparkly pieces while I usually like things more calm, but this one is just plain, simple silver glitter in a ever so slightly tinted base. Another polish that I love! I did mattify the mani, just because I have a hard time resisting mattifying anything flakie or glittery, haha. But I actually think it looked better shiny! What do you think?

OPI My Very First Knockwurst with Essence College Hero and Essence Matt.

And here's how it looks with normal top coat. The glitter looks so much darker like this!

Thanks for stopping by ♥

Depend Holographic part III

When I showed the first part of my Depend Holographic swatches and mentionned I only found 8 of the 12 while in Sweden, some of my readers offered to have a look for the last 4 for me. How sweet is that! ♥ And thanks to One Inch Nails my collection is now complete, yay! So today I have swatches of the last 4 of the collection :)
Just like the rest of the collection, I swatched these with Make Up Store Aqua Fix as base and no top coat, and these needed 3 thin coats or 2 thicker.

Right, let's start with the best, shall we? A green holo, how awesome! ^^ Didn't have a green with a strong holo effect, so I'm extra happy with this one!

This one looks a bit bumpy at the tips, that's just me being hasty and not waiting for the base to dry. Ended up dragging the polish a bit. But with the unpredictable sunlight, it'll do for now =) I'm really liking these soft holos at the moment!

That's right, the more special colors didn't stop with that green above, look at this teal! What a fabulous color ♥

This one's a bit more holo than my pics show (just like most of them are), but I think it might be the least holo of the bunch. Another one that's soft and sweet :)

I'm so loving this collection, they all apply easy and are pretty shiny, have a strong holo effect and I really like all the colors! I hope Depend will come out with a darker set sometime as well, with purple, charcoal and black holos for example. And that they will become available in the Netherlands too, and in bigger bottles while they're at it! =)

Some people have asked me where you can buy Depend besides Sweden, I've contacted Depend about that because their website isn't giving a lot of info about it. If I get a reply with info, I'll add it here!

Here you can find my swatches of the rest of this collection: Part I and Part II.
