BornPrettyStore stamping plate & brush - Review
I wondered a few of times about the bigger stamping plates from BornPrettyStore, I have some of their regular ones (the Konad lookalikes) and they work fine. But with the bigger plates I worried that the images would be pretty small, you know I love full nail images! Now BPS send me one of them for review, and as you maybe already saw on my Instagram, it arrived yesterday. Today I tried it out, so let's have a look!
The plate that I chose is plate CK-03 and arrived in plastic, with a blue protective foil (which was easily removed) on the front. The back has a protecting cover as well, and the plate isn't sharp on the sides at all.
But as you probably saw already, these images are indeed very small! My nails are about as short as can get now, and well, these images simply won't fit. Maybe if I pick one of the biggest ones (with a half moon cut out) and line it up carefully, I can manage to somewhat cover my nails with them.
But if I line the images up like I always do, making sure they hit the sides of my nails as well, here's what happens... I used one of the biggest images on my index- and middlefinger, and especially my middlefinger shows well what happens when I line them up on the side. On my ringfinger and pinkie I used one of the smallest images, it did fit on my pinkie but it clearly doesn't on any other nail.
I think it's a shame that they're so small, and the images aren't ideal for doublestamping either. I do like the images though, if they were bigger I'm sure I would've loved this plate. It has a little bit of everything in designs, and the plate itself works fine as well. I didn't have those very fine, lace-like images yet, which I would've loved to try as well, but unfortunately that just won't fit. But if you have small nails, polish people or kids with small nails, or enjoy stamping on your toenails, this plate could be nice for you.

BornPrettyStore also send me this brush, which I wanted to try for my cleanup. It's a slanted brush, and I used it for the cleanup of this mani, it does the trick just fine! It's not too small or too big, and I like that the brush hairs aren't too long either, that gives more control of the brush for me.

Trind Paradise Island - Review
Aaaand I'm back again, had a throat infection, bleh! (On the bright side, it did give me an excuse to nomnom icecream ^^) Being sick obviously didn't make me feel like polishing, and to make my polish mood drop even further, a corner of my indexfinger nail chipped off completely - again. Ugh, getting slightly tired of that! It's one of those nails that always chips off on the same spot, no rescue possible. If anyone has suggestions how to deal with a couple of stubborn chippy nails, I'd love to hear them. And in the mean time, I'll just keep swatching on my shorties :)
Right, on to today's post! Trind send me their Paradise Island collection, which consists of 4 polishes, 2 cremes and 2 shimmers. I mainly know Trind for their wide range of nail care products, and I liked the products that I tried of them, so I was curious after these polishes. They are from their Caring Colors line, those polishes are developed to maintain your pretty nails. Now I don't know how well they do that, because I just swatched them, but I do know I liked their application!
Each polish took 2 easy, streak-free coats (or 3, if you prefer thinner coats) and I just love streak-free cremes! I applied the 2nd coat thicker, but even with a thicker coat these dried surprisingly fast. They're shiny as well, I didn't use top coat for my swatches. The brush of these polishes is fairly small, especially compared to the wider brushes that seem more common nowadays. But I don't mind smaller brushes, it takes more strokes to cover the nail, but I find it easier to polish neatly around my cuticles and that helps with the cleanup afterwards.
Minty Mojito is a bright mint green. I have quite a few minty greens, but I think it is actually unique in my stash because it's brighter than similar polishes (I haven't doublechecked on nail wheels because I ran out of them and am waiting for my swatch sticks). Unfortunately it does give me red fingers aka lobster hands.
Blue Lagoon is one of the shimmers in this collection, but it's a lot more vibrant than I could capture! It's a bright azure blue with subtle green/blue shimmer. Very pretty if you ask me :)
Purple Sunset is a red-based purple and was the most pigmented of the bunch. My camera shows it too blue though (heh, now there's a surprise!), so I used my phone in an attempt to capture the color better, as you can see below.
Tropical Blue is a cobalt blue shimmer, and it's a beauty, look at that shimmer! I like this one most on my photos, but in real life, it's Blue Lagoon that wins the race.
I think the 2 cremes aren't so unique, but the shimmers are and I really like them. However, they do stain (especially Tropical Blue), so make sure to use basecoat with them! Overall, this was a pleasant introduction for me to Trind's polishes. One big downside for me though? That funky cap isn't a problem with polishing, but it does make the bottles too high to fit in my precious Helmers! >.<

Blogger Inspired Mani: The Polished Perfectionist
There are thousands of nail blogs, Instagram accounts, Facebookers, you name it. And then there's AmyGrace... yep, this girl is on a league of her own if you ask me! She doesn't only have stunning nails, manicures ánd matching photos, she seems to master it all. Freehand, stamping, gradients, all flawless and fab. And if that's not enough, she makes these amazing cakes with matching nails as well! I'm sure you would've known who I'm on about even if I didn't mention her name, and if there's anyone I have a nailcrush on, it's The Polished Perfectionist! ♥
Right, now there's plenty posts on her blog that make me think "ohh gotta try that!" but one of the things that jumps out for me, is the sponged glitter tips she does so well (and lets be honest, that's also because it's doable, if I attempt to freehand the way she does it looks like a toddler had fun with polish). When I saw her sponge the base of her nails, I knew I had to try that sometime too! So that's what I did today :) And here's a tip, don't be stubborn like I was and think, nevermind taping off my fingers I'll just do a cleanup afterwards. Ohh man, glitters e-ve-ry-where! That cleanup was so horrible, I almost took it all off to start again and then with taped fingers, haha.
And here's a daylight photo, the lamp made the basecolor look a bit too blue.
Anyway, time to go type! Earlier I bought some polish sticks, you know the clear nails on a stick? I'm currently using nail wheels for my stash, but I wanted those sticks for quite some time. They can be switched around easily, and I can't wait to have fun with them! What's less fun though, if that I want the name of each polish printed on a label and taped to the stick. That means I gotta pull out each precious bottle from my Helmer and type the name... Ouch!

Can't go wrong with flakies!
Even though I'm not always in the mood for flakies, they do stay gorgeous! When I used the new Essence color Miss Universe, I was a bit bummered that the purple flash that was in the bottle, didn't show on the nail. It's still a great color though! It's packed with green and blue shimmer, but I would've loved it more if it did have that purple showing up. So I decided to add some flakies in a clear purple base to see if that helped, which it didn't, but I sure do love the combo!
I couldn't resist using a matte top coat on top, which makes the colors in the flakes stand out more, look at that gorgeous blue to teal!
Here's Miss Universe on her own, I wanted to make a post with just this polish, but honestly, my pics don't do it justice at all. I'll try again some other day, the colors are a lot more vibrant!
Matte top coat and flakies are always a winning combo if you ask me, but this combo I actually preferred shiny :)

Striped gradient & tutorial
As I said yesterday, I had several ideas in my head for striping tape, and here's one of them. I think it turned out great! I considered adding a little stamped flower in white somewhere as well, but was afraid I'd ruin it, lol, so I just left it like this. Maybe next time :)
And here's how I did it:
1 Apply your light basecolor and let it dry completely. Cut off strips of striping tape.
2 Start with a strip of tape in the middle of your nail, then add more on each side. I'd advise to keep the strips longer than I'm showing here to make removing them easier later on.
3 Apply tape to the sides and top of your nail (or nailwheel in this example), because you'll end up sponging on your fingers as well.
4 Apply your basecolor and a darker color on a piece of sponge. I used a makeup sponge here. It doesn't have to be neatly applied, you'll end up with a gradient on the sponge anyway (for more sponging tips, have a look here).
5 Sponge one part of your nail until you have a nice gradient. If needed you can add more dark polish to the sponge and pay extra attention to the base, to make it extra dark there.
6 Remove the striping tape (tweezers can be handy for that) and the tape from your skin and apply your top coat.
After typing sponge several times, that word now looks very weird, haha. But luckily the result doesn't :) Hope you'll like it as well, thanks for looking! ♥

Striped with silver & tutorial
Today I did a mani with striping tape, which is one of those things that I've tried out but never really did a full mani with. I think it turned out ok, but I have several ideas already that'll look better - at least in my head =)
I think it looked pretty fun, although using a lamp here wasn't so handy as you can see on the photo above, it made it harder to see where the lines are. Oops! Anyway, here's how I did it:
1 Apply your basecolor and as always when working with tape, make sure it's completely dry. Cut strips of your striping tape, I usually put them on the side of my desk so I can easily take them off.
2 Start with one line over the middle, make sure to press the edges down well on the sides of your nails.
3 Then add more tape, have the edges slightly overlapping, but not as far that they stick out from other lines, if that makes sense. If you have your tape overlapping a lot (for example if you want a start-shaped design and everything overlaps in the center), try to remember in what order you applied them and remove them the opposite order later on.
If you want, you can use a small hobby scissors and cut off the edges of the tape now, add top coat and finish your mani with stripes of tape.
4 Work one nail at a time! Apply 1 coat of polish, if the polish usually doesn't cover completely in a single coat, just apply it thicker than normal, like I did here. If you would normally use several coats, I'd suggest to go for a different polish.
5 Remove the pieces of tape right after applying your polish (if you wait too long you'll pull up parts of the top color). I used a wide tweezers to easily grab and pull off the stripes. You can do it with your fingers as well, but the stripes will have polish on them and so will your hands then =)
6 After finishing a nail, repeat it for the next one, and when you're done with all your nails do a cleanup and apply top coat. As you can see on the last picture where I didn't use top coat yet, the top color will be higher on the nail than the basecolor. If you really want a smooth finish it might be needed to apply a 2nd coat of top coat.

W.I.C. by Herôme Fancy Sweden - Review
W.I.C. by Herôme often brings out collections inspired by a country, and this time it was Sweden's turn! The collection has 6 polishes and each polish is named after a city. I was a bit extra curious after this collection, because my boyfriend is from Sweden, and his city is in this collection too. Here they are!
My swatches are all with 2 coats of polish and no top coat.
Did I already mention that I love my lamp? As soon as I applied this I knew I'd have a hard time picking up the brightness of this hot pink, and indeed, all my daylight photos turned out bad, too soft and bland. But my lamp came to the rescue and here we have it, a bright pink that's almost neon! There's an almost invisible shimmer in Helsingborg, which you can see on my photos, but it's less visible in real life. That doesn't make this pink any less fun though!
Gothenburg is the city where my boyfriend lives, and Herôme gave this city a dark grey color. My boyfriend guessed it would be a grey, based on the weather, and he was actually right, lol!
Malmö is a light green creme, Catrice Sold Out Forever came to mind but this one's lighter and doesn't have that almost hidden shimmer. Bonus points for being more flattering than I expected, I really thought this would give me a bad case of lobsterhands!

Stockholm is a gorgeous cobalt blue, and I already picked out a stamping polish to go with this =) And I'll try layering Fantasy Fire on it sometime, I thought of that one straight away, it might make a great base for that as well!
This one's the odd one of the bunch (although I think the oh so bright Helsingborg stood out as well between the cremes), and it's the most unique color in the collection. This salmon pink color has a warm shimmer in it, and I thought it'd be too warm for my skintone, but it's not :)
So there you have it, the Fancy Sweden collection. I have to say that most of these don't look too original and might be easily dupable, but what really makes them stand out for me is their application. I really like the brush and cremes that cover in 2 streak-free coats are always more than welcome in my stash! So I'm happy with the collection :)

Glequinned Örebro
Hi guys! After swatching Örebro I couldn't resist to make a full mani of it, I am loving that color! I do think my camera shows it a bit too bright & blue though, it's one of those washed out colors, and it's my favorite of the collection ♥ But I'll show them all soon when I'm done sorting all the pics! For today I went with Örebro spiced up with some glequins in a simple triangle shape, it's one of those easypeasy things to do that give a big result, shiiiiny!

Aphrodite Lacquers Violent Delights - Review
Yep, I'm still catching up on my reviews! I also changed my blog a bit today, I wanted a cleaner look. Just wish I was a designer with these kind of things, but it'll do for now! Anyway, the polish that I swatched today is from a glittery goodness collection called Romes and Jules from Aphrodite Lacquers.
I used 2 coats of Violent Delights and 1 layer of top coat to get this opacity, you can use this one for layering as well but you'd have to apply a thinner coat, because these were normal coats and clearly it covers well! It looks like a jelly sandwich, and the white glitters give a lot of depth to the look of this polish. After moving and all that the stains on my nails have almost fully grown out (yay!), but my tips are still stained, so I'd use a different color below it next time.
And here's a little bottleshot of Violent Delights, as you can see, it has various shapes and sizes of translucent white glitter, but there's also red, light and dark purple, light pink and magenta pink glitter. And cute little holographic sparkles =) I wish I could show you better how it looks though, for me this is happy in a bottle, one of those polishes that I just enjoy staring at in the bottle, lol! I think it'll make a nice polish for Spring as well, I'll definitely wear this one again on a sunny day :)

Violent Delights
I used 2 coats of Violent Delights and 1 layer of top coat to get this opacity, you can use this one for layering as well but you'd have to apply a thinner coat, because these were normal coats and clearly it covers well! It looks like a jelly sandwich, and the white glitters give a lot of depth to the look of this polish. BornPrettyStore hexagon glitters & tutorial - Review
Hey everyone! Today I have another review for you, from the hexagonal glitters from BornPrettyStore (which are commonly known as glequins). These glequins were on my "must try" list for quite some time, so I was happy BPS gave me the chance to try them out!
Here's how I recieved them, wrapped in plastic per 6 pots. There was some loose glitter in the plastic, which made me worried that some pots maybe weren't fully closed, but that wasn't the case! They were all closed well and those glitters must've escaped during the fabrication and got stuck in the plastic (and I quickly found out they easily stick to your hands as well, haha).
I've placed these pots onto a standard size cotton pad, to give you an idea of their size. As you can see the pots are pretty small, but they're also jam-packed with glitters!
Look at all those darker areas in the pot, they're loads of glitter piled up. I don't think I'll ever get through one of these =D
I never used anything like this before, so I went for different ways and colors to try them out. What I did notice after sealing them in with top coat is that they didn't bleed (lose their color, which you then drag along with the top coat) at all!
Glequins used: Dark blue, dark green, bright blue, silver. Polishes used: W.I.C. by Herôme Örebro, Malmö, Gothenburg, Stockholm. (I'll post a review of the whole Sweden collectie soon!)
Here you can see better how flat your nail surface becomes after using top coat on them, no obvious bits sticking out (anyone else find themselves easily picking off things like rhinestones? >.<)
I was a bit scared I'd end up with glitter everywhere but my nails and misplaced glitters on my nails before I tried these, but they went on so much easier than expected! So I decided to do a little tutorial as well, if you have doubts about trying these, I hope this helps :)
1 Start with your basecolor and wait for it to dry. Use a toothpick or something pointy alike (I used a rosewood stick). Apply a thin coat of top coat, I'd advice one that's not too quick drying, and also place a drop of your top coat on the side (I used my placemat for that).
2 Open your pot of glitters, there should be enough sticking to the cap but if not, hold it upside down first before opening it. Put the pot in a safer spot, so you don't accidentally knock it over (yeah, I can totally see myself or a cat doing that!)
3 Dip your toothpick lightly in the top coat, then pick up a glitter from the cap and place it on your nail. I noticed you can slightly move it around if you're careful, because it's so thin it won't damage your basecolor too quickly. Keep going until your toothpick isn't sticky anymore, then dip it again.
4 I kept a cotton pad nearby, if I picked up too much glitter that got stuck together I could wipe them off on it. But if you use a pad as well, make sure you don't get bits of your pad stuck on your toothpick.
5 After you're done, there might be some loose glitter on your work area and fingers, I noticed they can be quite persistent! But with a cotton pad with remover you can wipe them away easily.
6 Add another layer of top coat when you're done, and there you have it! I used 2 colors blue to make flower-like things and added some random glitters as well. I've noticed that glequins don't photograph so well, but it looks really nice! :)
I can totally see myself using these a lot, they're flat, which is a big plus for me, easy to use, and I think they make a great addition to your mani. I'm thinking of using them as extra line over a taped mani, or as details on a stamped image, or just the way I showed above!
